Typography Poster

For this project, I was given the word “state” that I had to base a poster off of, and the word had th be included in the poster. I started exploring quotes on a person’s state of mind, and how people often make statements by expressing themselves. I came across a quote by Georgia O’Keefe in my research that says: “I found that I could say things with color and shape I couldn’t say any other way— things I had no words for.”

So I based the entire project on this quote, went home and painted some marks, found very different typefaces in which to spell out “state” and arranged them in an expressive way—celebrating the different ways in which people express themselves. This poster was featured in the Auburn University Graphic Design Juried Student Show in 2019.
